John --

$1,200 isn't enough.

Rent just came due on July 1st. Many of the moratoriums on evictions are being lifted. Our expansion of unemployment is set to expire. And millions are still unemployed.

This crisis isn't over -- far from it.

People here in Washington and across the country need our help, but Republicans in Congress are refusing to pass the legislation we need to take care of our communities while fighting the pandemic.

Almost two months ago, my Democratic colleagues and I passed an important coronavirus relief package extension -- the Heroes Act -- that will help save jobs while prioritizing protecting lives. But Mitch McConnell has let it stall in the Senate while the American people are left to feel the strain.

If we don't raise our voices right now, the economic hardships of the last few months could get much worse.

It's time for Senate Republicans to stand up for our constituents and finally pass the Heroes Act. That's why we're starting a petition demanding McConnell call a vote on the Heroes Act immediately. Click here to sign on and add your support today.

Some coronavirus relief legislation has already begun to expire, leaving folks who need support in the lurch. And Senate Republicans are refusing to help.

Meanwhile, they downplay the severity of our public health crisis, leave working families unable to pay their bills, and risk the futures of local businesses by holding up the Heroes Act. The bill will extend pandemic unemployment benefits through next year, extend hazard pay to essential workers, and provide funding for coronavirus testing, tracing, and treatment.

I also successfully fought for two major provisions of the Heroes Act: (1) an expansion of the Employee Retention Tax Credit which would help 60 million Americans stay connected to their paychecks and benefits and (2) increasing the Child Tax Credit and making it fully refundable.

This pandemic isn't over. And we don't know when we'll have the treatments or vaccines we need to reopen the economy safely. But we can help our communities stay strong and whole until we reach a new normal. We can't afford to waste another second on partisanship when people need support now.

If you agree, please take a moment and add your name to our petition calling on McConnell to pass the Heroes Act immediately.
