Dear John,
As of November 1, the federal government shutdown is expected to pause the distribution of SNAP benefits. This will leave thousands of New Hampshire families uncertain about how they’ll put food on the table for themselves and their children.
In moments like this, Families in Transition becomes a vital resource. While New Hampshire has outlined a contingency plan, its reach will be limited, and we’re already feeling and hearing the impact.
At the same time, USDA food donations—a major source of supply for our pantry—have been trending down over the past few months, making it more challenging to keep our shelves stocked.
As demand grows, our Food Pantry will continue to operate as usual, providing nutritious food to anyone in need, as long as supply remains steady.
We’re incredibly grateful to the many community members who have reached out asking how they can help. We deeply appreciate your generosity and commitment.
If you’d like to support our response to this critical moment, you can make an immediate difference by donating nonperishable food items, such as:
- Canned goods (meats, beans, vegetables, soups)
- Grains (rice, pasta, oatmeal)
- Cereal
- Shelf-stable milk
*Due to increased demand at our Food Pantry, we ask that ALL food donations be dropped off on Monday mornings between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. at 176 Lake Avenue, Manchester, NH.
You can also make a monetary contribution to support our efforts...
Together, we can ensure every family has what they need to stay nourished during this uncertain time. Thank you for standing with us so we can respond to this critical need with compassion and strength.
If you have questions, please reach out to our staff at [email protected].
With gratitude,
Maria Devlin
