Lord Alton of Liverpool
Video: While recovering from a serious accident, Lord Alton delivers impassioned message on abortion
As he continues to recover from spinal injuries sustained in a serious accident in London, Lord Alton of Liverpool has made a passionate appeal on abortion. Unable to speak in the House of Lords, he recorded a video last week opposing the “abortion up to birth” clause at Second Reading - as part of his contribution to the debate currently taking place in the upper chamber.
Thankfully, Lord Alton - the long-standing and highly respected pro-life advocate - appears to be making good progress in his recovery following the Victoria bus crash earlier this year.
You can watch Lord Alton’s latest address on the abortion up to birth debate below.

British girl group All Saints
Second member of All Saints group talks about pressure to abort her baby
British girl group All Saints open up about their career in the music industry in a new BBC documentary, GirlBands Forever.
In the docu-film, All Saints member Melanie Blatt reveals that she was pressured to have an abortion when she became pregnant at the height of the band’s success. Ms Blatt says that despite the intense pressure she came under to abort her child, she resisted it and continued with the pregnancy.
Fellow All Saints member, Nicole Appleton, has previously spoken about being pressured into having an abortion around the same time and how the effects of the abortion had left her suicidal. “I couldn’t believe what I had done,” she said. “I wanted to kill myself.”

Conflict of interest undermines media diversity goals, PLC tells Coimisiún na Meán
The Pro Life Campaign submitted its response last week to Coimisiún na Meán as part of the public consultation launched by the Commission on its draft Media Pluralism Policy.
The PLC submission commended the objective of promoting media pluralism and greater diversity within the sector. However, it cautioned that such pluralism will remain merely a slogan unless Coimisiún na Meán confronts its own internal blind spots as Ireland’s media watchdog - particularly with regard to the evident conflict of interest in serving both as the supposedly impartial regulator and as a distributor of substantial public funds to the very organisations it oversees.
You can read the PLC’s submission to Coimisiún na Meán below and / or view the short video we’ve just made on the issue.
