John,

I’m sorry to report that we didn’t get the result we hoped for on election night and I will not be the nominee to face Jeff Van Drew in November.

Obviously, this result is disappointing for me personally, my family, and so many of our supporters who volunteered their time during this campaign. The love and passion they showed for South Jersey is inspiring and I was proud to stand with them.

Let me be clear: while this is a tough moment for me – this is a great moment for the Democratic party.

After a Primary that has been tough for all of us, we can stand together behind our nominee, Amy Kennedy. We stand with the casino worker who has seen their job disappear during the pandemic. We stand with our seniors and so many others who still aren’t able to get a test for COVID-19. We stand with Black and brown families who have faced racism and inequity for generations.

Thank you so much for all your support, encouragement, and engagement in this election. I’m humbled by your confidence and I’m going to keep fighting for the policies and priorities I’ve championed during this campaign.

Best,

-Brigid
