We’re living through a time that requires courage and creativity from every single one of us, and that’s what Breach is bringing! Here are some October highlights you may have missed.

Building power in tense times.

At the recent People Power for Public Power conference and Portland’s Future: It’s in Our Hands event, organizers for public power, social housing, and participatory budgeting came together from across the country to share and connect. It highlighted the growing national movement for energy democracy and reminded us how powerful we are when we lead together. Read the full recap. ([link removed])

Centering Indigenous resistance.

The fight for climate and worker justice is built on generations of Indigenous resistance. As part of the Protect the Protest coalition communications working group, we want to make sure you saw this post from Indigenous Peoples’ Day ([link removed]) . The fights for our Earth, working people, and Indigenous rights are inseparable.

A chance for Eugene to lead again.

Almost a decade after Eugene’s groundbreaking Climate Recovery Ordinance passed, the City is falling short on its own goals. But there’s still time for the City to lead on climate action. Breach and our local allies are pushing for bold, community-driven solutions in the face of a changing leadership in the City and within its public electric utility, EWEB.
