Email from Coalition to Stop Violence Against Native Women     HOME ABOUT US BECOME A MEMEBR   CSVANW Celebrates One Year of the New Mexico Sexual Assault Helpline The Coalition to Stop Violence Against Native Women (CSVANW) extends heartfelt congratulations to the New Mexico Coalition of Sexual Assault Programs (NMCSAP) as it marks one year of its statewide Sexual Assault Helpline. This milestone stands as a powerful testament to what can be achieved when compassion, collaboration, and community justice come together. At CSVANW, our mission is to eradicate violence against Native women and children by championing social change within our communities. We recognize that for many survivors in New Mexico, especially within Pueblo and other Tribal communities, the path to healing is shaped by layers of history, trauma, and systemic barriers. Through our collective work alongside Native survivors, we know that silence and isolation remain among the greatest obstacles to safety, dignity, and recovery. The 24/7 helpline, available at 1-844-667-2457, serves as a vital reminder that survivors do not walk alone. This helpline creates a space grounded in belief, support, and acknowledgment; foundations that so many Native survivors have shared are essential to healing. As NMCSAP Deputy Director Rachel Cox expressed, “The first thing that they’re going to be able to hear is, ‘I’m here to listen.’” (KOB4). For our Pueblo and Tribal relatives, this is more than a service, it is an invitation to break cycles of silence, reclaim one’s voice, and reconnect with the strength that comes from community and care. We encourage all our Pueblo and other Tribal communities to share information about the helpline widely. Healing is rooted in connection, and when our relatives know that help is only a phone call or text away, our collective safety grows stronger. We also call upon state leaders to ensure sustainable funding and culturally responsive support so that this helpline remains a trusted and enduring resource for all survivors. As we celebrate this milestone, we do so with our vision of Healthy Families, Healthy Communities in our hearts. We honor the survivors who have spoken their truth. We honor the advocates who have listened and held space. And we honor the future, the generations yet to come, who will build upon our collective work, carrying forward a legacy of care, courage, and community toward healing and transformation. Once again, CSVANW congratulates NMCSAP on one year of its statewide Sexual Assault Helpline. May this vital service continue to save lives, uplift survivors, and strengthen the safety and wellbeing of our communities for generations to come.
