Hi John,
It’s been a busy few months. Swing Left volunteers have been working hard all across the country to help flip the House next year and win important elections happening this year. Here’s a recap of what we’ve been up to:
🗳️ In California, Swing Left volunteers have donated, knocked on doors, made calls, and sent letters in support of Proposition 50. Also known as the Election Rigging Response Act, if passed, this ballot measure would temporarily redraw the state’s congressional maps ahead of the 2026 election to help offset gerrymandered maps passed by Republicans in states like Texas, Missouri, and North Carolina—and the outcome could affect whether Democrats flip the House.

🗳️ In Virginia, Swing Left volunteers have been working on electing Democrats in eight competitive state house races, and also the races for governor, lieutenant governor, and attorney general. Dedicated Swing Left volunteers have been speaking directly with voters and donating to support these high-impact races that could swing the balance of power in Virginia.

Turning out voters in this election is especially important because Virginia Democrats are moving forward with plans to redraw the state’s congressional maps. This effort could counter Republican gerrymanders in states like Texas, Missouri, and North Carolina—but to make it happen, Democrats in the legislature will have to pass a constitutional amendment in back-to-back legislative sessions, which means keeping a Democratic majority in the House is critical.
🗳️ Nationally, we’ve also identified 22 competitive swing districts across the country—places where Democrats need to defend hard-won seats and flip Republican-held ones to take back the House in 2026. Our strategy is focused on ensuring every hour of volunteer time and every dollar donated by grassroots supporters like you goes exactly where it will make the greatest impact.
🗳️ As part of our work to flip the House to Democrats, we’ve also been piloting our new Ground Truth initiative. This new, long-term effort will define Swing Left’s work from now through 2026. Ground Truth is reimagining door knocking by starting earlier, knocking every door, and focusing on listening—not lecturing—to understand the real-life concerns of voters.
By analyzing and sharing those insights directly with Democratic campaigns in swing districts, we can strengthen their messaging, targeting, and outreach strategies to help them win. And every dollar donated to Swing Left helps power this innovative deep organizing work.

From California to Virginia and all 22 of our target House races, Swing Left is laying the groundwork now to protect our democracy and flip the House in 2026. But we can only do it with your support.
Thank you, John, for everything you do to support our work.
