Trump is withholding food from families in need.

42 million people could lose SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) food assistance on November 1st. While families face hunger, Republican leadership has kept the House on a paid vacation since September 19th instead of working to reach an agreement to keep the government open.

Earlier this year, Trump’s Big Ugly Bill slashed SNAP benefits for two million vulnerable Americans. Now, Congressional Republicans are pushing a spending bill that continues devastating cuts to healthcare and food assistance, and enables deep cuts to clean water and other critical programs.

Trump is using the SNAP program as a bargaining chip, demanding that Senate Democrats accept a harmful spending bill with no negotiation. Trump’s cruelty has gone so far as to block emergency funds that could keep SNAP running during the shutdown, forcing families to go hungry.

Without November benefits, millions of families on SNAP face impossible choices: food or rent, medicine or meals – all while grocery chains and meatpacking conglomerates report record profits from Trump’s tax cuts and surging grocery prices.

Congress needs to put food back on the table for struggling families by passing a bipartisan spending bill that protects food access!
