On Wednesday morning, the Pennsylvania Senate held a last-minute hearing on Senate Bill 822, a bill that would override our freedom to address gun violence in our own communities.
This bill is the gun lobby’s direct response to our movement’s success at the local level — across the Commonwealth, cities and counties are taking action to address the flood of ghost guns, machine gun conversion devices, and gun stores in residential communities. If SB 822 passes, it would force taxpayers to pay for NRA-backed lawsuits against these changes when all local officials are trying to do is save lives.
The General Assembly has failed Pennsylvanians time and again by refusing to pass gun violence prevention measures. Now, some Senators are trying to stop local authorities from taking action to make their own constituents safer.
Use our tool to send a message now to tell your state Senator to OPPOSE SB 822. If the General Assembly won’t protect us from gun violence, they should at least get out of the way of progress. [[link removed]]

Law enforcement officers, health care professionals, faith leaders, and Pennsylvania families are fed up with the gun violence epidemic.
That’s why the York City Council, with the support of the CeaseFirePA community, recently took a major step to prevent mass carnage by banning Glock switches, bump stocks, and other gun attachments that turn handguns into machine guns. That’s why similar ordinances have passed in Philadelphia and Delaware County .
Even though no representatives from York, Philadelphia, or Delaware counties were allowed to share their stories, Wednesday's one-sided hearing agenda was stacked with gun lobbyists.
This legislation is nothing but a giveaway and a green light to the gun lobby to terrorize municipalities that are doing a better job of keeping us safe than our state legislators. Take action now and tell your Senator to pass gun violence prevention laws, not stall them. [[link removed]]
