John,
The Carney government will table their first budget next week.
Some reports expect the deficit will reach the enormous sum of $100 billion <[link removed]>!
And you know what Pierre Poilievre has demanded from the government? That they keep the deficit at “only” $42 billion.
FORTY-TWO BILLION DOLLARS!
Not eliminate the deficit. But rather put us even more in the red by another $42 billion.
That’s what passes for “fiscal conservatism” nowadays with Poilievre’s fake Conservatives.
John, yes it’s possible to eliminate the deficit in one year if you stop creating new programs and you cut the wasteful or useless ones instead.
Here is what a PPC government would do in its first budget:
- Abolish all corporate subsidies and end corporate welfare.
- Cut the budget for the two federal departments responsible for indigenous affairs in half. They’ve tripled under Trudeau!
- Cut equalization payments by as much as possible while respecting the Constitution (equalization is enshrined in the Constitution and can’t be abolished entirely).
- Eliminate all funding for provincial and local infrastructure, which are not Ottawa’s responsibility.
- Abolish federal programs that fund sex change surgeries and stop funding groups that promote gender ideology.
- Abolish all foreign development aid.
- Abolish all programs dedicated to the war in Ukraine.
- Abolish national daycare, pharmacare and dental care programs, three new programs created by Trudeau that intrude on provincial powers.
- Withdraw funding from UN commitments and organizations that threaten our sovereignty.
- Abolish subsidies, programs, regulations and taxes aimed at fighting climate change.
- Defund CBC and Radio-Canada and eliminate all financial support to the media.
- Abolish regional development agencies.
- Abolish all federal DEI programs and stop funding groups that promote DEI ideology.
- Eliminate all programs that duplicate or infringe on provincial jurisdictions.
- Eliminate public sector jobs accordingly with all these savings.
By doing so, we could cut tens of billions of dollars and eliminate the deficit in one year.
There is nothing unrealistic in this plan, it’s entirely feasible.
Once the deficit is eliminated and fiscal space is freed up, we could then reduce personal income taxes, corporate taxes and eliminate personal capital gains tax.
John, is this the type of budget you would like to see adopted?
If so, please help us promote the ONLY political platform realistically aiming to bring back sound finances, lower taxes, and prosperity in Canada with a $42 donation today!
