Ottawa County is proud to recognize Valente Morales, Community Health Worker with the Department of Public Health’s Ottawa Pathways to Better Health program, for outstanding customer service. Valente was nominated by Nursing Supervisor Susan Keen after a client shared how his compassion and support helped her rebuild her life following the loss of her husband. The client wrote, “My Community Health Worker didn’t just help me survive. He helped me thrive. He gave me the tools, the support, and the belief that I could rebuild my life.”
The Pathways to Better Health program works to improve outcomes for individuals with chronic conditions by addressing barriers to care and connecting residents to medical, behavioral, and social services that help them achieve long-term stability. Through his work, Valente demonstrates how caring relationships and community partnerships can change lives. His professionalism, empathy, and dedication to others exemplify the highest standards of public service.
