John,
I’m Dom Leon-Davis — Interim Chief of Communications for Color Of Change.
Throughout my career, I’ve seen firsthand how grassroots organizing and digital communications can work to shift the balance of power to Black, brown, and working class communities. Prior to joining COC, I led teams to build movement power at organizations like Kairos Action, MoveOn, and the Working Families Party, advocating for climate justice, tech justice, economic justice and more. I ran digital programs that mobilized tens of millions of voters working for Stacey Abrams’ 2018 Gubernatorial campaign and Reverend Warnock’s 2020 Senate campaign.
Now, I’m proud to drive narrative strategy to advance systemic change at the nation’s largest online racial justice organization. Because John, the message we have to share is clear: For 20 years, Color Of Change has been winning for Black folks and allies.
But because of that truth, we’re facing strong, well-funded resistance from neo-segregationists that seek to derail our work and drag our country backwards — will you pitch in $20 or more to our $120k anniversary fundraising goal to ensure we have the resources to fight back and sustain our movement for justice?

Right now, the Trump administration and aligned forces are systematically targeting Black progress and all of the infrastructure and institutions that support or fight for it; attacking racial justice organizations, attempting to erase Black history in order to discredit and dismantle DEI initiatives, defunding programs and institutions that benefit Black people, and disenfranchising the Black vote.
These attacks are not random — they represent a direct response to the progress Color Of Change and its allies have achieved, from Reconstruction to the Civil Rights Movement, the Movement for Black Lives and more. When organizations force companies to change their practices, protect voting rights, drive criminal justice reforms, and build unprecedented political power for Black communities, those who benefit from white supremacy inevitably fight back.
Trump and his allies are targeting us because they know that we’re powerful. They know that Color Of Change and organizations like ours have fundamentally changed what's possible in this country — for Black people and beyond. They've seen what we've accomplished over 20 years, and they're afraid of what we'll do in the next 20.
John, now is not the time to back down — it’s the time recommit ourselves fully to the fight for racial justice. Chip in $20 or more today to help us combat those who seek to intimidate, defund, and silence us so that we can continue to advance our work for Black liberation!

Your contribution will help to support our campaigns, maintain our organizing capacity, and ensure our financial health in an environment where major funders are receiving authoritarian pressure to end their support to organizations that oppose Trump’s agenda. Every dollar truly makes a difference.
The next 20 years of racial justice organizing will be written by how our movement responds to this moment that aims to break us down with fear and division. Our collective power is being tested, but together, we will rise to meet the moment and emerge stronger than ever before.
Until Justice Is Real,
Dom Leon-Davis
