There’s a lot happening beneath the surface right now. Four Republicans are already declared in this race, and the GOP is gearing up to pour millions into flipping this seat.

But here’s what they’re not saying out loud: If Prop 50 passes, districts across California will be redrawn to stop the Trump powergrab. That includes CA-45, and the GOP knows that fair maps could jeopardize their hold on power in Congress.

That’s why national Republicans are ramping up pressure now -- while they think they can still gain ground under the old map. They’re counting on people tuning out, or grassroots campaigns like ours falling behind before the lines shift.
