Phil Weiser for Colorado

Friend, what brought me to Colorado thirty years ago was a job interview.

Looking back, that interview proved to be a major turning point in my life. I’m grateful that it led me here, and for all the opportunities I’ve had to build a life here with Heidi and our kids.

I want Colorado to be a place of opportunity—where we all can and want to stay, and where our kids can build a future for themselves and their families. That’s why I’m running to be your next governor.

After listening to and gaining insights from Coloradans across our state, we put together our plan to fight for our kids' future and the state we all love: The Colorado Blueprint.

Below are some highlights of our plans to secure opportunity in Colorado for our kids and their future.

Building a thriving economy that provides opportunities for our kids means that they have access to jobs that pay a livable wage and provide financial security. And to build a thriving economy, we must invest in key building blocks, like public safety, infrastructure (including broadband, water infrastructure, and transportation), homes people can afford, and the protection of our land, air and water.

A top investment priority for our future is education and workforce training.

A flagship initiative I will bring to Colorado as our next Governor is ColoradoCorps — a brand-new service program for careers in education, law enforcement, nursing, counseling, and firefighting. This program will both address key shortages in critical service professions and empower Coloradans with good-paying jobs at the same time. And it will pay long-term dividends by inspiring Coloradans about how they can make an impact and provide them with a powerful sense of belonging.

To expand pathways into good-paying jobs, our Colorado Blueprint calls for several other key initiatives, including:

Under our plan, we’ll

  • Pay teachers livable wages, so they don’t need to work multiple jobs just to live where they work.
  • Protect against privatizing or profiting off of our public schools.
  • Support and expand Universal Preschool to give kids a strong start.
  • Increase access and lower costs to higher education, so young people can avoid being crushed by debt right at the start of their adult lives.

I am also committed to supporting Colorado’s workers, ensuring they are paid and treated fairly, including the right to join a union. As the People’s Lawyer, I’m proud to have stood with workers time and again, from supporting striking workers to protecting the right to unionize to cracking down on wage theft to curbing the use of abusive non-compete agreements. As Governor, you can count on me to keep having our friends’, family’s, and neighbors’ backs when it comes to the fair treatment we all deserve.

Creating opportunities for our kids and families is top-of-mind for me because it is critical that we build a Colorado where our kids want to stay. Let’s get to work,

Phil
