John,
Due to the government shutdown, SNAP (food assistance) may not reload for millions of people starting November 1. That means that many of the youth in our programs could suddenly lose access to the benefits they and their families need in order to eat.
In fact, several families in our program have already reached out asking for support, worried about how they’re going to feed their kids starting November 1. Traffickers will exploit any vulnerability they can, including offering money or food. Through the years, we’ve seen over and over that food insecurity is a serious risk for trafficking revictimization. With SNAP benefits in jeopardy, we’re very concerned for the kids we work with. Love146 is responding right now with grocery gift cards and urgent support. This type of need is funded by donations from people like you.
Your gift reduces vulnerability and helps families in crisis.
