Why it matters
The ECHR was created after the Second World War to protect people from tyranny and abuse. Rights like a fair trial, free expression, privacy, and freedom from torture.
Itβs not an EU invention. Itβs a British idea, championed by Winston Churchill and rooted in the values we fought for in WWII.
Walking away from it wouldnβt just weaken those rights; it would tell the world that Britain no longer stands for the rule of law.
Farage and his far-right allies will keep trying, and there are still far too many MPs who agree with him. Weβll keep putting pressure on those. But for now, weβve shown that their agenda can be beaten. This was your victory.
Thank you for standing with us. Together weβre pushing back against extremism and working to fix our democracy.
Best,
Conor
