Interim Update

________________________________________________________________________

Hello,

It has been a busy and productive stretch here in our district as we continue working on local infrastructure needs, engaging with county leaders, and supporting the community organizations that serve our families. I wanted to share a few highlights.

*Capital Investment Tour Recap*

Last week, the House Capital Investment Committee visited several communities across our district to review important local infrastructure projects that are competing for bonding support this session.

In *Henderson*, we heard about the need for a new water filtration system to address high iron and manganese levels that continue to impact drinking water, stain plumbing fixtures, and reduce water pressure for residents and first responders.

In *New Germany*, city leaders presented plans to expand the wastewater treatment facility. The current system is at full capacity, limiting new housing development and increasing costs for residents. Expanding the facility would help the community grow responsibly while meeting state environmental standards.

In *Carver*, the committee reviewed plans to modernize the levee system. With increasing flood events in recent years, upgrades are needed to protect homes, preserve the historic downtown, and keep residents safe.

We also heard from *Winthrop* and *New Auburn* about a regional wastewater treatment project that would replace aging systems, improve water quality, and help meet updated environmental standards. This collaboration would support future growth while protecting local lakes and infrastructure.

I am proud to work together with our great city leaders to advance these projects. They’re practical, urgent, and focused on necessary infrastructure that our communities need to continue growing and serving the people of our district.

*Visit to Camp Parsons in Watertown*

The other week, I visited Camp Parsons, a historic campsite currently being restored thanks to community partners and support from the Legislature. For decades, this space has helped young people build confidence, leadership skills, and a deeper connection to the outdoors, and it is exciting to see those opportunities return.

Camp Parsons offers programming that includes:

* Summer day camps focused on outdoor adventure, skill-building, and mentorship
* Family weekends that help strengthen relationships and encourage time spent in nature
* Year-round environmental learning for students during fall, winter, and spring

These programs are a great way to get more people involved in the outdoors and offer great character building. I appreciate the staff and partner organizations who are committed to honoring the camp’s history while expanding access to meaningful outdoor experiences for more Minnesotans.

??*Happy Halloween*??

As families prepare for Halloween, I hope everyone enjoys a fun and safe evening. Please be mindful of children walking after dark, use reflective gear when possible, and watch for increased pedestrian traffic. Community traditions like this are a wonderful part of life in rural Minnesota - let's keep it that way!

Thank you for staying involved and engaged. As always, please reach out with questions, concerns, or ideas. Your feedback makes a difference, and I am grateful for the opportunity to represent you!

Have a safe and enjoyable weekend,
