People should not have to choose between food, rent and health care. But millions of families are about to be forced to make exactly that choice as the holidays approach.

Act now to urge your members of Congress to protect affordable health care for hundreds of thousands of Alabamians.

Because Congress has not acted to extend the Enhanced Premium Tax Credits (ePTCs) that make health insurance through Healthcare.gov more affordable, people across Alabama are facing devastating premium increases.

Birmingham resident Virginia Hutchinson is one of them. This year, her monthly premium after tax credits is $383.26. This week, Virginia received a letter stating that the cost for the exact same plan without any credits next year would be $821.20.

That’s not sustainable. And Virginia is not alone. More than 400,000 Alabamians use these tax credits to afford coverage. Without ePTCs, about 130,000 Alabamians likely will be priced out of health insurance and lose access to care altogether.

Congress can and should prevent this. Lawmakers should act now to extend the Enhanced Premium Tax Credits and keep health care affordable for millions of families.

Please take a minute today to email your members of Congress and urge them to protect affordable coverage by extending the Enhanced Premium Tax Credits. Families should not face impossible choices between their health and their basic needs.

Time is short. Congress must act NOW to stop these drastic cost increases. Please send your message today.
