Hello John ,
If you’ve been following the politics around climate and air quality, you know this is a challenging moment for the work we do. As we focus on holding the line on progress we’ve made toward cleaner air and a stable climate, it’s just as important to keep our eyes on the future - to stay ambitious and keep building the foundation for a healthier, more sustainable Utah.
That’s why we’re thrilled to share our updated Prosperity 2030 Report [[link removed]] , a first-of-its-kind framework to cut emissions by 50% along the Wasatch Front by 2030 . This is a plan we’ve been working on for years (starting with O2 Utah) and we couldn’t be more excited to unveil the report and our findings with you.

Why set a bold, ambitious target to cut emissions on the Wasatch Front by 50% by 2030?
Because the stakes of inaction are simply too high. Studies show that on average, we lose 2-5 years of our lives simply by breathing the air of northern Utah , and our economy loses $2 billion annually in direct and indirect impacts from air pollution. By creating clear, bold targets, we can unify around a common goal that leads to real change . We’ve already seen this in action: this year’s passage of HB 420 Halogen Emission Amendments [[link removed]] , a landmark bipartisan air quality bill, was guided by the Prosperity 2030 framework, along with progress on several other key policies.
So, what’s in the report?
To cut emissions, we first need to understand where we’re headed under business as usual. Our team analyzed emissions projections to show where we’re on track to go, where we need to be, and the gap between those outcomes.
Next, we identified the top sources of air pollution along the Wasatch Front and quantified their emissions. This gives us a clear picture of where action can make the biggest difference.
Finally, we lay out an ambitious and achievable policy roadmap informed by data, and the report brings that data to life around Utahns’ health, livelihoods, and well-being.
