| John,
The Constitution says it loud and clear: “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice.”
Yet, President Trump keeps flirting with the idea. Just the other day when asked about running for president in 2028, he told reporters that he would “love to do it.” [1]
No president — no matter their party — can abuse power. We need Congress to stand up for our system of checks and balances, defend the Constitution, and safeguard American liberties — before that balance is lost for good. Our Constitution gives Congress the job of checking the president, and when they don’t, the balance breaks. It’s time to fix it.
We’ve laid out how to do it: Our We the People Playbook [2] lays out six reforms that would reassert Congress’ rightful authority and protect our democracy’s foundation.
Write to Congress now and tell them to reassert their authority and uphold the principles from our We the People Playbook.

Our Constitution created a system of checks and balances to protect our freedoms. But for too long, presidents of both parties have chipped away at Congress’ authority — launching wars without approval, declaring endless emergencies, and seizing powers that belong to the people’s branch.
We need Congress to stand up for the oath they swore to the Constitution, push back on the disregard for our democratic norms, and to stand up for the American people.
Write to your members of Congress and tell them to do their constitutional duty and check the exec!
