Dear John,

After 12 incredible years with Ms. Foundation for Women, I’ve made the decision to step away from my role as President & CEO. I will remain with the organization through June 2026 to support a seamless transition and ensure that our vital work continues without interruption.

Leading Ms. Foundation has been the honor of a lifetime. I’ve grown here. I’ve been challenged, inspired, and changed. Together, we’ve built something powerful: a bold, unapologetic commitment to gender and racial equity that centers the voices and experiences of women and gender-expansive people of color. I love this Foundation, and I love this work.

This moment is one of deep gratitude, reflection, and excitement for what lies ahead—both for me personally and for Ms. Foundation. We’re calling this transition Project Stargazing—a chance to pause, dream, and realign. To look up at the constellations and imagine new possibilities. Too often, women—especially women of color—aren’t given space to dream. This moment is about reclaiming that space, for me personally and for the institution I’ve had the privilege to lead.

When I started at Ms. Foundation in 2014, this country looked very different. As hard as I have worked, as hard as many of us have worked, we’re currently witnessing relentless rollbacks of human rights and mounting threats to democracy. The backlash is real. But as history shows, people push back hardest when progress is being made. That resistance is proof that our work matters. It means we’re shifting what’s possible.

Even in this tumultuous time, Ms. Foundation is stronger than it ever has been. The organization remains unwavering in its commitment to doing the work we’ve always done: moving money and resources to the field, following the leadership of grassroots activists, advancing feminism in philanthropy, and fighting tirelessly for a democracy that works for all people.

I am committed to making this transition intentional, transparent, and rooted in care at every stage. We’ve assembled an incredible team to guide the processyou can learn more about what’s ahead here.

Good leadership means knowing when to lead, when to follow, and when to make space for others to shine. I’ve done the first two, and now is my chance to do the third. I don’t know exactly what comes next, but I’m excited to find out and give myself permission to explore the parts of me that haven’t always had space.

Thank youfor your trust, your partnership, your belief in me and in Ms. Foundation. I am so proud of all we’ve accomplished together, and I can’t wait to see what’s to come. I will keep you posted as things move forward.

In profound gratitude and solidarity,
