Hey John – I know I haven’t reached out in a while, but I wanted to give an update of what’s been happening.

We’re 29 days into a government shutdown.

That’s not just a headline. It’s real life, with real life consequences for millions of people.

Workers aren’t receiving paychecks. Millions are about to lose the SNAP benefits that help them put food on the table. Essential government services are being slowed down or stopped entirely.

And it’s all because House Republicans don’t want you to have affordable healthcare.

What they do want – what they’re happy finding the time (and money) for – is tearing down an entire wing of the White House for a $250 million ballroom.

It’s obvious, John: House Republicans are not prioritizing our people. They’re prioritizing power and vanity – in the face of millions of Americans who don’t know how they’ll be able to survive this.

So I’m standing ten toes down to stand up to them, because affordable healthcare and food security are human rights, not bargaining chips. And I’m asking you to stand with me.
