We are living through a moment we never thought possible, not here in America. This is not the country my family came to. It’s the one we fled. The horrors happening across our nation keep getting worse. Checks and balances are gone. Law and order now just means whoever has the biggest gun.

Masked men wait outside schools, hospitals, churches, and even courtrooms, kidnapping people in broad daylight with no warrants or evidence, just because of their skin color or the car they drive. We are all trying to make sense of this, but we keep coming up empty. The cruelty is the point.

I’m not writing to complain. I’m stating the truth. Things are bad, and they’re always worse for the most vulnerable. The same people who fled persecution, violence, and famine for a better life are now being used to prove a point: that America can be made white again.
