Because of Republicans in Congress, there will be no food assistance benefits for over 42 million people starting November 1st.

The Department of Agriculture just announced they will not use the $6 billion contingency fund to cover food stamp benefits.

The government shutdown is still happening because Republicans in Congress refuse to pass a bipartisan budget that protects the basic needs of working families.

I’ve met with so many families in our district who already live paycheck to paycheck, and now they’re being told to brace for another blow.

This is exactly why we need to make Prop 50 passes: to restore balance in Congress and break the Republican stranglehold on our federal government.
