Under California's AB 60 law, enacted in 2015, over 1 million undocumented immigrants have received driver's licenses without needing to prove legal presence.
While these are standard licenses, loopholes and lax enforcement have extended to CDLs, where federal rules require English reading and speaking skills to understand road signs, regulations, and emergency communications.
Yet, reports show hundreds of truckers – many undocumented – operating without adequate English, leading to "dangerous and potentially deadly situations" like misreading hazard warnings or failing to communicate during incidents. In sanctuary states, these requirements are often bypassed, putting every driver, family, and commuter at risk.
The consequences are heartbreaking and all too real. Just this year, undocumented semi-truck drivers have caused multiple fatal crashes:
- In August 2025, Harjinder Singh, an Indian national who entered illegally in 2018, made an illegal U-turn on a Florida highway in an 18-wheeler, killing three innocent people in a minivan. He held CDLs from California and Washington, issued despite federal prohibitions.
- In October 2025, Jashanpreet Singh, a 21-year-old undocumented immigrant from India released at the border in 2022, slammed his semi-truck into seven vehicles on California's I-10 Freeway while allegedly under the influence, killing three and injuring four more.
These aren't isolated tragedies – they're symptoms of a broken system where radical policies prioritize open borders over American lives. Non-enforcement has turned our highways into a "lawless frontier," with unqualified drivers hauling 40-ton rigs cross-country.
Federal audits confirm the dangers, and the Trump administration is withholding millions in highway funding from non-compliant states like California to enforce English standards and citizenship verification.
We must act now to STOP this insanity. Demand an end to CDL issuances for non-citizens, enforce strict English proficiency, and deport all undocumented individuals driving semi-trucks. It's time to reclaim our roads for safe, legal American drivers.
