We’re just days away from a full-blown crisis.

Because of Trump’s government shutdown, nearly 700,000 Wisconsinites — kids, families, seniors, veterans — are at risk of losing access to basic food through FoodShare.

The USDA has the power to stop this. They could use emergency authority to keep SNAP benefits flowing. They’ve used it before to protect WIC. They could do it again right now.

But Trump’s USDA told states to stop processing benefits for November and “delay transmission” of payments. That’s not just reckless — it’s cruel.

We’re not talking about budget line items. We’re talking about real people who won’t be able to buy groceries next week if this continues.

Empty cupboards. Skipped meals. Parents forced to choose between putting food on the table and paying bills. That’s the cost of political showboating from Trump and his enablers, and it’s impacting thousands right here in Wisconsin.
