“Wow—I’m not doing this alone.”
That’s what a woman at Buena Semilla [[link removed]] —a Grassroots International grantee and partner based in Guatemala—told me about her experience participating in their Women’s Circles.
“We are all medicine for one another,” she explains.
At Casa Alegria (house of joy), — a hub for women who have experienced domestic violence—women gather to co-create transformational spaces where they can remember who they are, heal, dream, and together reweave the fabric of their lives and communities.

For women who have experienced gender-based violence, this healing is so necessary.
And this healing journey is a long-term project. Once women have begun participating in these circles, they want to keep it going.
That’s why support from Grassroots International is critical to keep the circles going.
Buena Semilla is a living example of flipping positions of power upside down to create more equitable structures for those with less privilege to reclaim sovereignty.
