Climate Champion,
In 2024, the Environmental Protection Agency issued a new rule requiring oil and gas facilities to reduce leaks and use new technology to limit emissions. And ever since then, the industry has been quietly lobbying to stop it.
This summer, the industry got its wish when new EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin hit pause on rules until 2027.
Now the Senate is expected to vote on a resolution to stop the Trump administration’s EPA from rolling back these critical rules for the oil and gas industry.
Act now: Tell your senators to vote YES on S.J. Res 76 to keep limits on methane emissions — protecting Americans’ health and slowing the effects of climate change. [[link removed]]
TAKE ACTION [[link removed]]
Methane is a powerful climate pollutant, with over 80 times the global warming potential of CO2 over the short term. Experts project the delay could mean the equivalent emissions of 25 million gas cars driven for a year entering the atmosphere. All at a time of rapidly rising temperatures and increasing climate disasters worldwide.
Delaying these methane protections will mean more climate pollution putting the health of millions of Americans at risk, especially those living closest to oil and gas infrastructure.
With crucial votes coming up soon in the US Senate, your senators need to hear from you.
Urge your senators to advance S.J. Res 76 and protect Americans from methane emissions that harm our health and warm our planet. [[link removed]]
