SNAP helps around 11% of Washingtonians meet their basic need for nutritious food. It is urgent that state and federal representatives come together to maintain SNAP funding and keep families fed. 2) Email Governor Ferguson urging him to support agency request legislation that will support lost SNAP funding in the coming years:
As we approach the 2026 legislative session, agencies are submitting the funding requests that they hope to have included in the supplemental budget. DSHS will be hit particularly hard by federal funding cuts, and is requesting $45.4M for 2026 and $572.6M for the next four years to maintain services to Washingtonians with less federal funding. This funding is necessary to prevent massive cuts to benefits in the coming years. Governor Ferguson must support this agency request during the coming legislative session.
