Email from Urrutia for NH At the New Hampshire Democratic Party Convention, I told my story. John, The New Hampshire Democratic Party Convention last weekend came at an interesting time for NH politics. I was proud to address the crowd as a first-time candidate, throwing my hat in the ring to represent the change that people need. My candidacy is about real change. As I told the crowd: I am the first of my family born in the U.S. My father was a community organizer, and my mother was a night shift nurse for 25 years at Catholic Medical Center. And no matter what Donald Trump and Stephen Miller say, I am proud to be the son of immigrants. And I am proud to be a Hispanic. Our politics face a simple question: do we move forward or just go back into the same failed status quo? Republicans want to give Trump a third term. In New Hampshire, they’ve even thawed out John E. Sununu fresh from political cryo-sleep for another losing Senate run. But Democrats can’t make the same mistake. We can’t keep picking the same people, or the same kind of people, and expect a different result. That’s how we end up with more closed doors, more broken promises, and more working families left behind. I’m running for this incredibly important open congressional seat because the problems of twenty years ago are still here and the usual politicians haven’t solved them. The deck is stacked by design against candidates like me – outsiders – because it is built to protect decades of failure. And regular folks are paying the price. But the energy is changing. People are hungry for something real, and someone new. I’ll fight to make sure everyone has a seat at the table. But I need you. Can I count on your support to help me get there? I am building this from scratch, and while I don’t have the status-quo behind me, I do have people that want change and a fire in the belly that I know can inspire folks from across the political spectrum to believe that we can do great things together once again.
