Here’s the truth: Donald Trump admitted he’s trying to move U.S. Space Command out of Colorado Springs not because it is right for our national security, but because Colorado conducts mail-in voting — and he called our elections "automatically crooked."

Playing politics with our national security and service members is wrong. And under our Constitution, it’s unlawful. That’s why I filed my 41st lawsuit against this Administration today, challenging this illegal action.

As your Attorney General, I called out this move for what it is: a blatant abuse of power that threatens Colorado’s economy, our aerospace leadership, and the safety of our country. Space Command supports more than 1,400 jobs in Colorado Springs and has a $1 billion impact on our economy. More importantly, uprooting it for political reasons disrupts our ability to respond to growing threats in space.

But worst of all, this act by President Trump is cruel. It puts over one thousand El Paso County families into a place of extreme stress, hardship, and uncertainty — families that made Colorado their home, who have bought homes, and whose kids are in school.

These Colorado families are our neighbors and a valuable part of our community. They don’t deserve to be a pawn in a political game. In taking this action, I’m fighting for them.

As Attorney General, I’ve stood up to lawless actions by the Trump Administration time and again. As governor, I will keep defending Colorado’s values, our freedoms, and our future.
