It’s time to care for them.

Dear,

The U.S. has hit a terrible milestone: 60,000 new coronavirus cases in just one day.(1)

Essential workers -- the people who provide crucial health care, keep grocery stores stocked, deliver necessities, and keep our cities running -- are being relied on more than ever before. But the government has not taken the steps needed to keep them safe.

Right now, the Senate is considering a new coronavirus stimulus package, which is the perfect opportunity to pass an Essential Workers Bill of Rights to protect these vulnerable employees. We're sending letters, posting ads, and collecting signatures to let the Senate know this is a top priority.

Will you commit to caring for essential workers as they've cared for us by donating $5 right now to help us in this fight?

The current spike in coronavirus cases is terrifying -- 38 states are heading in the wrong direction, and hospitalizations are stressing the health care system.(2)

The people on the front lines, who can't work remotely, are at great risk and need access to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), childcare, and other support systems to keep them, their families, and their communities healthy. They need hazard pay to protect their well-being, but it ran out with the last bill.

One in three jobs held by women are deemed essential, and in some cities, people of color make up over 70% of essential workers.(3,4) That means every day we do not ensure that these workers are protected, we are furthering the systemic oppression of Black and Brown women.

But the Trump administration and Mitch McConnell's Senate have failed to support these workers -- even as they recognize that essential workers are the only way we will escape from this crisis. In fact, instead of adequately compensating and protecting these workers, they approved a $2 trillion bailout for banks, airlines, and big businesses. And McConnell has been dragging his feet on further legislation for more than two months.

That's why we're calling on the Senate to pass the Essential Workers Bill of Rights, which will provide, among other protections:(5)

  • Health and safety protections
  • Hazard pay
  • Protections for collective bargaining
  • Universal paid sick leave and medical leave
  • Childcare support

It's time to take a stand for the people who have made our lives livable over the last few months. Join our fight to pass the Essential Workers Bill of Rights today. The Senate must protect the health and wellbeing of these workers and their families -- and give them the compensation and protection they so rightly deserve.

Make a donation right now and support the workers who put their lives at risk for us every day.

Yours in the fight for our health,

Angela, along with Anne, Brian, Caitlin, Deepthi, Gabby, Irene, Jay, Lindsay, Molly, Raquel, and Scottie (the Courage team)
