I’ve said before that I didn’t plan on sitting on the sidelines – least of
all in a moment like this. And over the past few months, I’ve tried to
live up to that.
I’ve been in Iowa, talking with voters about what this era means for their
families.
In Indiana, standing with Democrats determined to prevent elections from
being dictated by unfair maps before the first ballot is even cast.
In Michigan, hearing from residents who are organizing in their own
backyards for political change – not just talking about it, but doing it.
And just last week, I joined a crowd of more than 1,300 in Virginia to
support Abigail Spanberger, and send a clear message that Americans still
want leaders who listen, serve, and lead with integrity.
Now, I’m heading to New Jersey to support Mikie Sherrill in her race for
Governor.
Mikie represents the kind of leadership we need more of – steady,
principled, focused on results instead of outrage. At a time when our
politics is often defined by noise and division, she reminds people that
public service means so much more.
To be clear: elections like this aren’t just about one state or one seat.
With Donald Trump back in office, these early contests will amount to a
major statement on the kind of country we want to be – whether we retreat
into cynicism, or prove that decency and responsibility can still win.
That’s why we built Win the Era. We support leaders who step forward not
because it’s easy, but because it matters. We show up in communities of
all kinds, and work to remind people that democracy only works when we
take action and participate.
I’ll keep traveling, to red, blue, and purple places, because I believe
showing up is the simple and underrated core of how we can shape a better
and stronger politics.
