Hi John,
It's official. Three damning reports have confirmed what we’ve been shouting about for years... Water companies are failing. Misleading us. And putting profit before the planet. Bills keep rising, and yet WE are the ones paying the price. 😡
In this issue, we break down the latest reports exposing these failures, reveal how our app cuts through the murky data, and celebrate the incredible impact of Dip a Day fundraisers. Plus, learn how to leave a legacy for the ocean and wear your activism with pride. ✊
Read on for October's sewage pollution updates!
It's official: Water companies are failing on repeat
A recent (and very official) report revealed the lowest Environmental Performance Assessment (EPA) ratings for water companies since 2011...
🏆 All but one scored 2 stars “requiring improvement” (congrats Severn Trent for being best of a bad bunch!) ⭐ Thames Water bottomed out at 1 star “requiring significant improvement” (no surprises there, pal). 💩 Customer satisfaction hit rock bottom since 2020-21 (who knew swimming in human sh*t wasn’t a crowd-pleaser?)
And it gets worse. A same-day report from the financial regulator shows that even when money is being spent on infrastructure, it’s misspent — public and environmental health are still ignored, and pollution continues.
The privatised water industry is so broken that small regulatory tweaks and fines won’t fix it. New government laws next year are an opportunity. But they must tackle the real upstream problems. You can help make change happen. Join our online call on Wednesday 12th November to find out how to engage your local MP and push for water industry reform.

Is the water industry misleading us on purpose?
A new report suggests they might be. Across the UK, raw sewage still pours into rivers and seas — and unreliable, confusing data leaves swimmers guessing about water safety. We have long exposed this through our app, which turns messy sewage data into clear, real-time health alerts. The latest UK Water Industry Report confirms what we’ve said for years: current maps and alerts fail to answer the one question that matters — is it safe to swim?
We’re calling for a single national standard so everyone gets the same trusted information. Our app already delivers it — real-time alerts, spill data, and a simple red-amber-green system. It’s time for transparency that puts people, not profit, first.
