Update: Mercy Corps is preparing to mobilize in response to Hurricane Melissa, a historic Category 5 storm that is currently devastating the Caribbean. Communities across Jamaica, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic are bracing for heavy rainfall, flooding, and landslides.
In Haiti, we have been helping communities prepare for storms like Hurricane Melissa for years. Currently, we are reaching more than 40,000 people through disaster preparedness training and mobile early warning systems. Across the Caribbean, Mercy Corps has been a leading emergency responder to major hurricanes — and a long-term partner helping local communities build resilience to these disasters. Our Resilience Hubs across the region are equipped with clean water, food, emergency communications technology, solar panels and off-grid power to charge devices and keep medications refrigerated — as well as critical emergency supplies to enable communities to cope and recover. And our partners on the ground are ready to spring into action. Learn how Mercy Corps is helping communities prepare for extreme weather — and build back stronger. And if you’d like to send your support to our teams and partners who respond to hurricanes, floods, conflicts, and other crises in communities across the globe, please rush a gift right now.
Thanks for your continued support, Mercy Corps |
