John,
I want to make sure you saw the email I sent last week. Nannies, house cleaners, and caregivers really need your help.
COVID cases are surging and much needed relief is expiring this month. What is the Senate doing? Gearing up for a MONTH-LONG summer shutdown with no path to future relief in place.
Will you take action TODAY, and tell U.S. Senators: #DoYourJob and support vulnerable workers by passing the HEROES Act?
Thanks -- Alana

John,
Coronavirus cases are spiraling out of control just as the relief programs that have provided financial support to millions of families are about to end. For caregivers like Savvy, it’s the worst possible timing.
Savvy is a two-time cancer survivor who lives in North Carolina. She has been a domestic worker for 20 years, but has been on unpaid medical leave from her caregiver job because she’s immunocompromised. Savvy has a second job as a medical transportation driver but, without her work as a CNA, her income has been cut in half. Debt collectors are calling her constantly and she is worried that her water will be cut off.
Unfortunately, Savvy’s situation isn’t unique. As relief programs come to an end, nannies, house cleaners, and caregivers are faced with a dire crisis because they will no longer be able to access unemployment benefits, mortgage relief, and other supports put in place early in the pandemic -- and they also won’t be able to safely return to work. What’s worse is that too many domestic workers were excluded from relief and are still waiting for any help from the federal government.
The HEROES Act would give Savvy and other workers on the front lines of this crisis immediate support and protection -- but for over a month the Senate has refused to even consider this life saving bill.

This weekend many will be celebrating the 4th of July, a day which represents all that the United States claims to be: a country shaped by values like justice, liberty and freedom. But the reality is that we are living in a global pandemic where hundreds of thousands of workers are being left behind -- faced with the perfect storm of police brutality, a lack of jobs and no safety net. And in days federal relief programs will end.
This 4th of July weekend, we call for real freedom.
The HEROES Act is a hugely needed step to take us in that direction. But since it passed the House of Representatives over a month ago, it has stalled in the Senate. That’s where we come in -- we need to make sure our Senators know there is overwhelming public pressure on them to act.

Passing the HEROES Act is an important and necessary first step towards supporting working people, and especially Black, Latinx, and immigrant communities, who have been hit hardest during this crisis.
Thank you for taking action, and for all that you do.
