Is the Government Shutdown Hurting our Nation?                         

Dear Texans,

Senate Democrats continue to vote against the House-passed Continuing Resolution. It was reported, by The Hill, that some are anonymously expressing concerns about the backlash they would receive by voting for the clean funding bill and reopening the government. One insider expressed concern that those who vote for reopening the government would “get hammered” by their liberal base. Another said, “we would have enough votes…if people were not terrified of getting the guillotine.” 

These comments suggest that the shutdown drags on because of the lefts fear of backlash. Our nation is at a crossroads, and the left has two decisions: reopen the government or willingly continue to let the American people suffer.  

I want to hear from you.

As your Congressman, I am concerned about how the government shutdown is affecting Texans, their families, work, and communities. All my offices remain open and welcome the opportunity to hear your opinions and be of service in any way. I hope that the left will come together and realize what is best for the economy, and our nation. Until then, I will keep fighting for the people in our district and small businesses across America.
