Group, students seek to join defense in Florida census lawsuit

  • Today the Alliance for Retired Americans and two Florida university students filed a motion to intervene as defendants in a lawsuit brought by the University of South Florida College Republicans challenging the U.S. Census Bureau’s statistical methods used for the 2020 Census.

  • Proposed intervenors argue the federal government is “very unlikely to vigorously defend this case,” and therefore may inadequately represent proposed intervenors’ direct and significant interests to protect themselves and their communities from undercounting and subsequent vote dilution.
