Email from Rep. Mann Thank you for subscribing to my newsletter. Message from Rep. Tracey Mann. Having Trouble Viewing? Click Here. Fellow Kansan, Thank you for subscribing to my newsletter. I am back in the Big First meeting with Kansans from across the district. If you would like more information on what I am working on this week, be sure to follow me on social media. I do not serve in Congress to be a caretaker in the slow demise of America— I serve to fight and work to make it stronger. That’s what I am doing while believing our brightest days are yet to come. Yours in service, Click below to follow me on social media. Mann.House.Gov Ending a Government Shutdown On September 19, House Republicans passed a clean continuing resolution that would allow the government to function as Congress finishes up the appropriations process. House Republicans did our job, passing a completely non-partisan bill that extends government funding at current levels. Unfortunately, Washington Democrats have rejected the CR, demanding $1.5 trillion in new spending for a partisan wish list that includes free health care for illegal immigrants. Every day that the government remains shut down is another day that hardworking Americans are left paying the price for Democrats' dysfunction. Kansans deserve leaders who are serious about fiscal responsibility and committed to doing the work they were elected to do. My offices in DC, Manhattan, and Dodge City remain open and ready to assist while Democrats decide whether to come to the table and reopen the government. Providing Clarity Around 45Z Tax Credits Last week, I led a group of bipartisan colleagues in urging the Treasury Department to finalize the implementation rules for the Section 45Z Clean Fuel Production Credit. This credit was created to support American energy independence by incentivizing biofuels made with domestic feedstocks and driving long-term demand for U.S. agriculture. Congress has already clarified that only fuels produced from North American feedstocks are eligible, and it’s critical that Treasury guidance reflects this intent without delay or loopholes. As farmers continue to face high input costs, the 45Z credit offers a powerful tool to grow rural economies, create jobs, and strengthen our domestic energy supply chain. Treasury must move quickly to finalize the rules, ensure clarity for fuel producers, and deliver on the promise of this important credit. We must not allow American tax incentives to benefit foreign producers at the expense of our farmers. Letter to Secretary Bessent Paying our Troops and Federal Workers Hard-working federal employees and our service men and women show up day in and day out to protect our communities, deliver essential services, and keep our country safe. They should not be punished for doing their jobs because Washington Democrats want to play partisan games. I cosponsor the Shutdown Fairness Act, which allows federal employees to be paid for their work during shutdowns. While I’m hopeful this political theatre by Washington Democrats will end soon, this legislation will provide a solution to ensure everyday Americans can receive their paychecks during any future government shutdown. Americans should not have to wonder when their next paychecks will come simply because of Washington politics. Meetings of the Week Last week, I visited Russell Stover Chocolates in Abilene to learn more about their operations and contributions to the local economy. With over 550 jobs and products shipped around the world, they are an example of our neighbors right here in rural Kansas making an impact across the globe. I also met with air traffic controllers and leadership at the Manhattan Regional Airport. These dedicated professionals are currently working without pay due to the ongoing government shutdown caused by Washington Democrats, and I appreciated the opportunity to hear their concerns directly. Thanks for the meetings. Russell Stover Chocolates Manhattan Regional Airport Serving The Big First My offices in Washington, D.C., and across the Big First remain open and ready to help.
