I’m going to share more about what I do and the role communications plays in electing Iowa Democrats to office. I may be biased, but communication is the backbone of any campaign or organization. Without communication, people don’t care about the work we’re doing because they don’t know what we’re doing.

As a Comms Director, I handle press releases, oversee our social media and digital programs, craft our newsletter, advertise our events, and more — all as a part of our long-term strategy to grow Iowa’s Democratic coalition.

Earlier this year, Rita rolled out IDP’s Forward:Victory 2026 plan, and two of our action items were to hold Republicans accountable in the media, and share stories on the impact of failed policies.

Over the past ten months, that’s exactly what we’ve been doing.

We’re telling Iowans that their representatives were on vacation instead of in D.C. working to reopen the government, our Governor is using taxpayer dollars to fund private school vouchers instead of funding public education, and our Senator said “well we’re all going to die” in response to Medicaid cuts.

And we’ll continue to communicate with Iowans all the way through Election Day next November, because when people know the truth, Democrats have a better chance to win.
