Friend,  Instead of helping working people, President Trump’s trade deals have
prioritized the interests of greedy corporations. Now, Trump’s signature trade deal with Canada and Mexico — which helps
corporations destroy jobs and increases labor and environmental exploitation
both at home and abroad — is up for review. The Trump administration must hear from all of us on how it should approach the
required review of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement, also known as
NAFTA 2.0. Tell Trump’s U.S. Trade Representative, our country’s lead trade negotiator, that trade with Canada and Mexico must include strong environmental protections, support for good green jobs, and regional cooperation to create more sustainable and resilient manufacturing sectors and supply chains. [link removed] Decades of bad trade policy, starting in the 1990s, led to a decline in American
manufacturing since then, the outsourcing of hundreds of thousands of
good-paying American jobs, and a huge increase in global climate pollution. The
North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) that took effect in 1994 was perhaps the most notorious U.S. trade deal, where working people and the environment were sold out to benefit multinational
corporations. Right now, we have a rapidly disappearing opportunity to push for changes to the
United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA)that prioritize environmental and labor protections and clean manufacturing. A
revised USMCA must include stronger and binding labor and environmental
provisions and establish new enforcement to ensure that manufacturers and
polluters in all three countries are playing by the same rules. Not only will
this help ensure we have cleaner air and water but also a thriving economy for
all. We need to hear from you ASAP. Sign today and urge the U.S. Trade Representative to prioritize environmental protection, transparency on remaining pollution levels, and clean manufacturing in USMCA talks, so we do not repeat the mistakes of past trade deals.
