Hurricane Melissa: A Call to Action for Jamaica

Hurricane Melissa has officially intensified into a catastrophic Category 5 storm and is now impacting Jamaica with violent winds, destructive storm surge, and extreme rainfall. Officials are urging residents to shelter in place, as massive flooding, landslides, and infrastructure failure are expected across the island. This is being reported as one of the strongest hurricanes ever recorded near Jamaica and is already causing widespread damage and life-threatening conditions.
