John,
When Trump is on the ballot Republican candidates typically perform better because of his ability to turnout GOP voters who don’t typically vote.
This effect is called the Trump bump.
In 2024, GOP Congressional candidates coasted off of the Trump bump to take back the House. However, there was one candidate who didn’t receive it — in fact, she got whatever the opposite of the Trump bump is, let's call it the Trump dump.
Lauren Boebert.
Boebert underperformed Trump in every county and had the worst performance a Republican has ever had in this district while her Democratic opponent, Trisha Calvarese, a labor leader and actual resident of the district unlike Boebert, had the best performance a Democrat has ever had here.
Trump isn’t on the ballot in 2026 meaning less GOP voters will show up and Boebert won’t even get the Trump dump. She is only in Congress because of 546 votes and is already incredibly vulnerable because of her scandals, her voters see her as a carpet bagger, and her campaign is nearly out of money — last quarter we outraised her 5-1.
