John,
Public service should be about duty and serving the American people – not using your position for luxury. Unfortunately, Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem is doing just that.
She recently signed off on the purchase of two luxury aircraft worth a combined $170 MILLION. This is an unacceptable use of taxpayer dollars, and I wrote an opinion piece in the Orange County Register to call her out.
Mike Levin: Kristi Noem's $170 million jets are a symbol of her arrogance

Without a shred of humility, Noem took the Coast Guard’s practical request to replace an aging jet with two jets meant for billionaires – not public servants.
To make matters worse, this purchase is happening in the midst of a weeks-long government shutdown, when members of the Coast Guard and other federal employees are missing paychecks. The distance between our leaders and the people they swore to serve is growing by the day, and decisions like this one make the division increasingly obvious.
The American people deserve better. As costs continue to rise, it is shameful to see government officials like Noem indulge in wasteful spending as working families struggle to make ends meet.
This isn’t “draining the swamp,” it’s a symbol of entitlement and arrogance from those who are entrusted with keeping our country safe.
If you agree with me that we must return to decency and common sense in our government, please consider chipping in $3 to help me stay in Congress and fight for you.
