Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress have launched an all-out attack on the health care of thousands of people in the Inland Empire and millions more across the country. Instead of working with Democrats to make it easier and more affordable to see a doctor or get needed medicine, Republicans chose to shut down the government. I will keep fighting back against these reckless Republican health care cuts and price hikes and continue working to protect the health care of people in the Inland Empire every step of the way.

Here’s how I’m fighting to protect your health care:

Sharing the impact of health care cuts on seniors and people with disabilities

I visited the San Bernardino Adult Day Health Care Center to see firsthand how Republican cuts to Medicaid are impacting seniors and people with disabilities in the Inland Empire. As a result of Republican policies to gut health care, people who rely on Adult Day Services could be forced into nursing homes or long-term care facilities, taking away their independence and dignity.

Meeting with in-home health workers about their jobs and how Republican cuts to Medi-Cal will impact them

I held a roundtable with SEIU Local 2015 members who provide long-term, in-home care to seniors and people with disabilities here in the Inland Empire. I heard directly from these in-home health workers about their experiences and how cuts to Medi-Cal made by Trump’s Big Ugly Law could negatively impact them and the people they care for.

Speaking out about how Republican cuts to health care will devastate Inland Empire Community Health Centers

Community health centers are anchors for people in the Inland Empire and help keep our families and neighbors healthy. Right now, community health centers are under attack by Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress. Because of the cuts Republicans made to Medicaid, known as Medi-Cal in California, thousands of seniors, children, people with disabilities and our other neighbors may no longer be able to afford their health care.

Listening to Inland Empire seniors on rising health care costs

I met with the Golden Age Club in San Bernardino to talk about how Trump and Republicans’ policies are driving up health care costs for seniors and what I’m doing to fight back. After a lifetime of hard work and sacrificing for their families, seniors deserve to retire with dignity. But the rising costs of things like doctor visits and prescriptions are pushing seniors’ ability to retire securely further out of reach. 

I will never give in to the extreme Republicans who want to take away your health care and drive up costs for everyone. I promise to keep fighting back and do everything I can to protect health care for people here in the Inland Empire.
