Friend, we are in Week FOUR of Republicans’ government shutdown, and GOP leaders are still refusing to sit down with Democrats to even talk about reopening the government and keeping health care costs from skyrocketing next year. 

I want to make sure we're on the same page about what that means:

* Premium hike notices are going out this month. Families are already getting letters warning that their health care premiums could double, triple, or even quadruple because Republicans are refusing to extend health care tax credits that millions of Americans – including 200,000 people in Washington state – rely on. One WA state family paying less than $400 per month could see their premiums jump to $2,200 per month next year.


* Republicans' $1.2 trillion in health care cuts are starting to hurt. Communities across the country are already feeling the impacts of the GOP's Big, Ugly Betrayal of a bill, with many people losing coverage and dozens of hospitals facing closures.


* Health care is about to be out of reach for millions of working families, farmers, and small business owners. Unless Republicans come to the table to fix this crisis and extend ACA tax credits, roughly 4 million people who count on them for coverage could lose access to lifesaving care.


But instead of showing up to solve this, House Republicans are missing in action, and Senate Republicans are wasting time with political stunts – all while Americans face skyrocketing health care costs and essential federal workers go unpaid.

It's been crystal clear: The only path forward is for Republicans in Congress to get serious and hammer out a plan with Democrats to reopen the government and stop these health care premium hikes.

I'll be here in the Other Washington, ready to do just that, for as long as it takes to get it done – but I need to know that you're with me.
