Happy National Immigrants Day!
We’re just days away from the 2025 general election, which makes this the perfect day to celebrate the 23 New American Leaders alumni who are on the ballot! These bold leaders represent 10 states and 15 countries of origin. They’re also nearly evenly split between genders and spanning both first- and second-generation immigrants.
They’re running for everything from State House and mayoral seats to county, city council, and school board positions. Each one brings a story shaped by courage, community, and the belief that our democracy is strongest when everyone has a seat at the table.
For New Americans, every election is personal. We know what it means to have a voice and what it costs to lose it. Sitting out isn’t an option when so much is at stake for our families, our neighbors, and our shared future.
That’s why NAL is here to guide you every step of the way with trusted information on when and where to vote, your rights as a New American voter, and why electing immigrants matters so deeply for our communities. Because when we show up, we don’t just cast ballots, we build power, belonging, and the future we deserve.
Follow @NewAmericanLD throughout the election and beyond to meet our alums who are heeding the call and to learn how you can make a difference as a voter, a candidate, or a proud believer in immigrant leadership.
In solidarity,
Ghida Dagher
