When thousands of Missourians gathered across our state to peacefully protest gerrymandering and protect our voting rights, Kansas City set the tone: calm, united, and unafraid.

In partnership with civic leaders, first responders, and event organizers, my office helped ensure that demonstrations in Kansas City were peaceful, accessible, and protected under the First Amendment — just as our democracy promises.

While others stoked fear or sent in troops, we chose to listen and lead. Here in Kansas City, democracy doesn’t just live in polling places—it lives in the streets, in signatures, and in every person willing to stand up for what’s right.
