While the government shutdown continues, our troops, federal workers and families across the country bear the consequences of political gridlock. That’s why I have refused my congressional pay while so many public servants continue performing essential services without compensation. The House has done its duty by passing a clean continuing resolution to keep the government open. Unfortunately, Senate Democrat’s inaction has allowed this shutdown to continue hurting hardworking Americans who deserve better. My office remains fully operational to assist constituents with any issues involving federal benefits or services throughout this period.

Last week, our office hosted the 3rd annual Cybersecurity Capture the Flag competition. This event brings together students from across FL-18 to test their skills and explore careers in cybersecurity and public service. Supported by Florida Polytechnic University and CyberFlorida, the event featured hands-on challenges that encouraged teamwork and critical thinking. Teams from George Jenkins High, Summerlin Academy, McKeel Academy and Okeechobee High participated, with the top performers recognized as follows:

• 2nd Place: McKeel Academy of Technology

• 3rd Place: George Jenkins High

I was honored to visit the Medal of Honor Museum in Sebring to pay tribute to some of our nation’s most courageous heroes. The museum offers a powerful look into the lives of Florida’s Medal of Honor recipients, preserving their stories of sacrifice and patriotism for future generations. I’m grateful for the local leaders and volunteers who have worked tirelessly to honor these legacies and ensure their service is never forgotten. This museum is a true point of pride for Highlands County and a meaningful reminder of the values that make our country great.
