Team — A quick campaign update today.

On Friday I told you that I approved some new investments to help get this campaign off the ground now that I have a challenger.

I said that the money wasn’t in the budget, and this team responded by stepping up and chipping in what they could to make those investments possible.

We’re now less than $8,000 away from closing our fundraising gap before Friday night — that’s huge progress since last week!

In the world of political fundraising, $8,000 is a drop in the bucket for some. In fact, many politicians would simply call up a billionaire donor or corporate CEO and ask for that $8,000 upfront.

Not me though. I am rejecting corporate PAC money in this campaign because I will not become beholden to the interests of the rich and powerful while I’m in Washington. I will fight for the working class and every American who can’t afford to buy-off politicians to get their voices heard.

But relying on a grassroots fundraising model means that every dollar counts. It’s going to take hundreds of folks chipping in $10 or $15 at a time to reach our goals. I’m confident we can get it done.
